I have been a hoarder and a shopaholic for a very long time and didn’t realize it until around August last year. It was one of the irresponsible actions I dealt with in the past. It kills me inside that it took me 30 years of existence before realizing it. Looking back at the time when I was decluttering, is maddening how many useless things I had and wasted my money and time on. From bags, shoes that aren’t comfortable to walk in, accessories, makeups and food that went bad because sometimes I forget or just too lazy to make a meal. I couldn’t be more lucky to have found and established a relationship with Minimalism in my definition and understanding of what it means to live a meaningful life with less.
The society’s idea of owning more to express who we are and where we stand is ridiculous. Imagine the irresponsible purchases you’ve made that cause you tons of money and the time you spent and wasted arranging and cleaning the things you own. It’s funny how I haven’t even thought of it for years until I do.
Welcome to my first entry about Minimalism. If this topic interests you, please follow through by subscribing to my email list.
What is Minimalism?
For me, Minimalism is a template of your lifestyle. It doesn’t only revolve around the realm of owning less but also about controlling what is coming in and allowing only the things that serve a purpose. It is also an intentional promotion of the things that we value the most and removing anything that hinders from doing what we love and supposed to be doing. Taking back the freedom on how you would want to spend your time given the fact that we live in a fast-paced world, tells much about how you are and where you stand.
That would be it for now. I hope somehow this gives you motivation.
It’s been a little while since we last spoke about summer. Well, it’s officially here and boy it is arguably scary! Lol. That being said, let’s take advantage of this very time before July hits the horizon. Saadiyat Beach stays as my preferred beach to chill and get a bit of tan, and this time, I was with one of my favourite persons.
We walked along the shore and got an instant foot spa, ate, and had tons of giggle. Floated in the water, in the shallow water because your sister ain’t a swimmer, so the possibility of me drowning is imminent. Big hugs to Viv for putting up with me for, on the contrary, she’s a diver. Basically, an ocean diva, I mean almost a mermaid really!
Beaches grant comfort when you’re having a long and tiring week, a troubled mind or even a weary heart. Okay, I just made that up. Haha. I meant, going to the beach and soaking yourself with ocean water is always a good idea because of the healing power natural minerals offer. Definitely getting more out of it than just enjoyment. The weather was incredibly amazing too to even just sit on the sand, have a book or lie down and do absolutely nothing while staring the brightest sky.
I hope you take a break people, in any way, shape or form!
I would do anything for aesthetic. As you might notice instagram is completely consumed by never-ending innovations on how to better photos. Recently I have tried making my way into the dusty-effect-phenomenon of instagram photos because I think they’re cool and cute. Now, I will show you how do I do mine.
Download the Afterlight app (I believe it’s $0.99 and also available for Android) then start exploring and creating. Open the application and choose the photo you want to edit by allowing the app to have access to your photos. You should see the same thing as you see in the image below.
After clicking the square thing, you will see 4 options that will look like the image below. Click the DUSTY one.
This is the final step. After you clicked the DUSTY, you will have 13 different choices of dusty effects. My favourite is number 12 as shown below and I usually click-and-save up to 4 times depending on how I would prefer the opacity of the effects will look like on my photo.
Check out the AFTER photo and other before and after images below.
So, there you have it guys and I hope this is helpful. As always, edit yours according to your liking and personal style. Happy editing!
Just a brief background, the Green Mubazzarah is the largest park in the city located in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Developed by Sheikh Zayed, known as the man who turned the deserts green and the founding President of the UAE. Green Mubazzarah is not just a park but also a historic place that the locals hold dear in their hearts. The place is situated at the base of the grand Jebel Hafeet, with its beautiful and lush natural landscapes and desert oasis it has become one of the top destinations for picnic and relaxation during the weekends and holidays.
As expected, yesterday the place was jam-packed with families and group of friends having picnic and quality time. Evidently, my friends and I joined in, we packed our lunch and drove to the place. It took about 25 minutes from the town centre and it will be almost 45 minutes if you’ll take the bus. If you fancy staying overnight, you surely can because Green Mubazzarah has chalets for rent. Check booking.com for the charges.
It is just so fun having to spend the time under the sun, having a meal and lay down the grass to relax and get away from the busy streets of the city. Catching up with my friends is definitely one of the things I should do more. After a long week, it’s right to have a break and do nothing but giggle and chill.
Well, that is it for now. I hope you all are having a lovely weekend!
For the past few weeks, my skin was a mess! Pimples were popping everywhere (at least only on the surfaces of my face, fortunately), plus it’s that time, that depressing time when you need refills for the products you have gone thru. While my skin was in that not-so-pleasing state, decided to might as well try out other products. I have tried first the serum of The Face Shop and oh I’m loving it! Then, the raving desire went on and now my skin care regime is gradually becoming The Face Shop centred. Haha.
Here are the products I fall in love with:
I have been loving the eye cream as well. It’s the perfect alternative for the Kiehl’s anti ageing cream one that I used to use because that stuff is very expensive! When I saw the word collagen on the product, I’m sold! In addition, the texture is almost like a serum rather than a cream. Since it is light weight, it gets cold even under a room temperature and once you apply it on your skin it will (kind of) act as a de-puffer too. I use this night and day as part of my skin care routine before I apply any moisturizer on.
My new favourite serum! My skin type is on the drier side and any product that can give me moisture, I’ll be all over it. This product absorbs easily and leaves your skin soft and hydrated but not greasy.
I’m not very particular when it comes to make-up remover because I always do wash my face after removing my make-up and follow up with micellar water before I proceed to apply any product on, so, anything will do. However, I like this one particularly because of its name and I know that this is meant to be used for lips and eyes only but I use this on my whole face. This removes everything without stinging your eyes and since chia seeds are packed with protein and antioxidants they’re supposed to be very good for your skin.
Instead of using a body lotion, I use this. It’s rich and creamy (hence the name hehe) and moisturises just like your typical lotion would do. I am just a big fan of products that get the job done and absorb quickly. There’s nothing more gross than feeling sticky and waste a minute to wait until the lotion dries up or absorbs before putting clothes on especially when you’re running late (story of my life, always).
These are all my new finds that serve me well and I don’t regret purchasing.
Thanks for stopping by and take care of yourself! xx
